Church Street, Nashville, TN. January 6, 2013.

One of the initial attractions to playing with older lenses is that among the unique optical characteristics, you might get a look that is “soft” but in a flattering or palatable way. Sadly, the reality you quickly recognize is that more often than not this softness more closely resembles “out of focus”. Nonetheless, I think it almost kinda works in this photo.

It seems like the pattern now is that every time I go somewhere, I post the one good photo I took there, followed by the shot I took out of the window on the plane home out of boredom.

I found this old picture from 2008 that I never posted for some reason. Probably because I got hit by lightning shortly after taking it. (Actually, I think it was because i took this one right after and lost interest in everything before it.)

I also stumbled across an older lightning shot and spent some time re-processing it to not look so dumb:

Stay safe in the storms this morning, folks.

A few years ago they introduced a bunch of hawks to downtown Nashville in an attempt to combat the pigeon problem. I don’t know if it worked, but it sure looked cool at times. No word on what they plan on doing about the starling problem.

I realize that shots out of an airplane window are a little cliche, but hey: clouds are awesome. Suck it.

One of the first pics I took with my LX-3 when I got it this year that I really loved. ALSO one of the first pictures I’ve ever taken at fort negley (my photographic white whale) that I actually liked.
