My friend Will Clendening had a few paintings that I really loved — these monstrous canvases of black with broad, minimalist strokes of light. I’m not sure if he was actually going for it, but they reminded me of the sortof wistful loneliness of a late night drive. So I guess this photo is an homage of sorts in his memory.
